Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

The short version. UNYIELD is a competitive fitness app. To make it work we store your account details, the training data you enter, and any workout videos you submit for verification. Your ranking, username, profile and verified lifts are visible to other athletes. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. You can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app, or by emailing support@unyieldapp.com.

1. Who we are

UNYIELD (“UNYIELD”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the competitive fitness tracking app available on the App Store and at unyieldapp.com. The app and this website are operated by Unyield Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17102601.

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any question about this policy or about how we handle your data, contact us at support@unyieldapp.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account and identity

  • Email address and a hashed password, if you register with email.
  • Sign in with Apple details, if you use that option: the identifier Apple gives us, plus the name and email address you choose to share. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email feature we only ever receive the private relay address, never your real one.
  • Username, display name and an optional profile image.
  • Guest accounts. You can use parts of UNYIELD anonymously. A guest account still creates a record on our servers so that your progress persists.
  • Invite codes you create or redeem, and the link between the account that invited you and your account.

2.2 Profile and body metrics

  • Bio, region, training goal, self-reported fitness level, preferred training days and weekly workout frequency.
  • Body weight, height, age and gender, where you choose to provide them. These are used to calculate your weight class and strength ratio, which is what makes ranking fair across body sizes.
  • Gym membership, if you join a gym on UNYIELD, and the date you joined it.

2.3 Training and performance data

  • Workouts you log: exercise, reps, weight, duration, notes and date.
  • Core lift records, personal bests and their verification status.
  • Points, weekly points, rank, rank history snapshots, streaks, badges and accolades.
  • Challenges you join, your progress in them, and your submissions.

2.4 Video submissions

  • Videos and thumbnails you upload to verify a lift or a challenge entry, together with the exercise, reps, weight and duration you claim.
  • The original, unblurred copy of each video (see section 5), the automatically face-blurred copy, the moderation outcome, the moderator who reviewed it, any rejection reason, and any appeal you file.

2.5 Social features

  • Friend requests you send and receive, and your friend list.
  • Accounts you block or mute.
  • Reports you submit about other users or content, and reports other users submit about you, including the reason given.

2.6 Purchases

  • Records of in-app purchases: the product identifier, transaction identifier, store and platform, purchase status and time.
  • We never receive or store your card details. All payments are processed by Apple under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.

2.7 Notifications and device data

  • A push notification token for your device, if you enable notifications, together with your per-category notification preferences.
  • The notifications we have sent you and whether you have read them.

2.8 Technical and log data

  • IP address, request times and basic request metadata, held in server logs and used for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.
  • Your last active time and last workout date, used for streaks and inactivity handling.

3. Health and fitness information

Body weight, height, age, gender, lifts and workout history are health and fitness information. Where this counts as special category data under UK GDPR, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to enter it. You are never required to provide body metrics to use UNYIELD, though some ranking and weight-class features will not work without them, and you can remove them at any time in your profile settings.

UNYIELD does not read from or write to Apple Health, and we do not collect health data from any other app or device.

4. How we use your information, and our legal bases

  • To provide the app — create and run your account, log training, calculate points, ranks, strength ratios, streaks and badges, and run challenges and leaderboards. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • To verify submissions — review videos, confirm or reject claimed lifts, handle appeals and keep competition fair. Legal basis: performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in a credible ranked system.
  • To handle body metrics and health-related fields. Legal basis: your explicit consent.
  • To send push notifications you have opted into, such as rank changes, challenge reminders, streak milestones and badge unlocks. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in settings.
  • To keep the service safe — investigate reports, act on blocks, detect cheating and fraudulent submissions, apply rate limits, and enforce our Terms. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting users and the integrity of the platform.
  • To process and record purchases and to prevent duplicate or fraudulent transactions. Legal basis: performance of our contract, and legal obligation.
  • To understand aggregate usage of the app so we can improve it. We use our own analytics; we do not embed third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the service.
  • To meet legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. Video, face blurring and moderation

Video is central to how UNYIELD verifies performance, so please read this section carefully.

  • When you upload a video it is processed by an automated face-blurring service before it is shown to other users. Blurring is automated and, like any automated process, it can be imperfect. Do not upload footage you would not want seen if blurring failed.
  • We retain the original, unblurred video. It is accessible only to UNYIELD administrators and moderators, and is used solely to verify the lift, investigate reports and resolve appeals.
  • Do not film other people who have not agreed to appear, and do not upload footage in which children are identifiable.
  • Videos and the media stored with them are held in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage. Media links issued by the app are time-limited.

6. What other people can see

UNYIELD is a competitive, social product, so parts of your profile are public to other users by design:

  • Your username, display name, profile image, bio, region, rank, points, streak, badges, weight class, strength ratio and verified lifts appear on leaderboards and on your public profile.
  • Verified video submissions and challenge entries can be seen by other athletes.
  • Your email address, password, purchase records and any original unblurred video are never shown to other users.

If you do not want a piece of information to be visible, do not add it to your profile, or remove it in settings.

7. Who we share information with

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as far as they need it:

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure — storage of videos, thumbnails and uploaded media.
  • IONOS — the hosting provider for our application servers and database.
  • Expo and the Apple Push Notification service — delivery of push notifications to your device.
  • Apple — account sign-in via Sign in with Apple, and all in-app purchase processing. Apple’s handling of your data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.

We may also disclose personal data where we are required to by law, by a court order or by a regulator, or where disclosure is necessary to investigate suspected fraud or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If our business is ever sold or reorganised, data may transfer to the acquiring entity, subject to this policy.

8. International transfers

Some of our service providers operate outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on an adequacy decision where one applies, or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with appropriate technical safeguards.

9. How long we keep your data

  • Account, profile and training data — for as long as your account exists.
  • Video submissions — for as long as your account exists, or until you delete the submission. Originals held for moderation are deleted on the same basis.
  • Purchase records — up to 7 years after the transaction, because we are required to keep financial records.
  • Moderation, report and appeal records — up to 24 months after the case closes, so that we can act on repeat behaviour.
  • Server logs — typically 30 days.

10. Deleting your account

You can delete your UNYIELD account and its associated data at any time, directly in the app:

In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account, then confirm.

Or by email: write to support@unyieldapp.com from the address on your account and we will action it within 30 days.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, training history, workouts, core lift records, video submissions, challenge entries, friend connections, notifications and rank history. It cannot be undone.

A limited amount of data may be retained after deletion where we are legally required to keep it — principally purchase and tax records — or in anonymised form that can no longer identify you, such as aggregate leaderboard statistics. Records of serious abuse or cheating may be retained to prevent ban evasion.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected. Most profile and training data you can correct yourself in the app.
  • Have your data erased (see section 10).
  • Restrict or object to processing that is based on our legitimate interests.
  • Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, including for notifications and for the body metrics described in section 3. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@unyieldapp.com. We will respond within one month. We do not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

12. Children

UNYIELD is not intended for anyone under 16, and you must be at least 16 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact support@unyieldapp.com and we will delete the account and its data.

13. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, token-based authentication, rate limiting on sensitive endpoints, role-restricted administrative access, and a database that is not publicly reachable from the internet. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the ICO where we are required to do so following a breach.

14. Third-party links

The app and this site may link to third-party sites and services. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app develops. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
